Global Youth Service Day

Saturday - April 21, 2012

Youth from Our Lady of Peace Church will be participating locally in this International Call to Service. Each year millions of young people in more than 100 countries work with schools, youth organizations, nonprofits, community and faith-based organizations to address the world’s most critical issues and change their communities on Global Youth Service Day.

How do I get involved?

  • Volunteer Opportunity – you can sign up to volunteer and join one of the many Erie area groups that will be coordinated by the Youth Leadership Institute of Erie. Local Chairman for this event is Judge John Trucilla.

  • Create a Project – OLP will form a youth team, lead by young people to investigate, prepare and plan, and develop an action plan for a specific project for that day. Your ideas and leadership are needed for this project!

  • Youth Led – you will develop a plan and coordinate it with the Youth Leadership Institute projects. We need young people from OLP to serve as group and team leaders, and to mobilize volunteers from our parish. We need your thoughts, ideas and leadership to develop a specific project for this day.

  • Come to a planning meeting – We will have an organizational meeting on Wednesday February 15th at 6:30pm. Please come and offer your suggestions and ideas, and to offer your leadership to this project.
